Future Library Fund

We’ve changed our name! The Garden City Library Building Fund, Inc. is now the “Future Library Fund, Inc.”. We are an independent non-profit organization raising money to contribute to the construction of a new building to house the Garden City Public Library, including all the necessary furniture and equipment needed for a modern library. Whether your donation is $5 or $500, you will help ensure the community has a modern space for traditional and evolving library services:  Storytime, Youth and Adult programs, computer services (internet, printing, copying, faxing)., digital downloads, eaxam proctoring, reading and studying.

Let’s do this together!

Why the name change? We started this non-profit organization in 2013 under the name “Garden City Library Building Fund, Inc.”, which most people referred to by the shorter name “Library Building Fund”. Then, in 2019, the residents approved a millage to fund the construction of a new building. The millage is kept separate from the library’s operating funds in a capital projects fund called the Library Building Fund. The similarity in names has caused confusion between the non-profit and the Library Fund. So, the non-profit has opted to rebrand itself as the “Future Library Fund.” The goal remains the same: to help raise additional funds for the construction of a new library building.

The Need

Users of the Garden City Public Library know we need more space.

  • We have no study rooms.
  • We have only a small activity room.
  • We have only a few study tables, and no quiet study area.
  • Our shelves are crowded.
  • There are not enough electric outlets.

That is why we are asking for donations. We need your support.  Every dime helps, but it will take a lot of dimes to build a new Library. So come back to this page to find out about our fund-raising events.
