Our Director
James B Lenze, Library Director
James Lenze joined the Garden City Public Library staff as a part-time adult services librarian from 1998 to 2007. From 2007 to 2008, he worked for the Ypsilanti District Library. He returned to Garden City to serve as the Library Director from March 2008 to July 2011. He then worked briefly as the Director of the Inkster Public Library. Since April 2013, James has been serving as our Director again. He is a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Garden City, and the current president of the Rotary Club of Garden City. James enjoys jogging, home-brew, and reading. He lives in Belleville with his wife.
Our Librarians
Kim Poma, Youth Librarian
Kim Poma joined the Garden City Public Library staff in 2015 as a Library Aide. In 2018, she was promoted to Youth Services Librarian. She coordinates the children and teen programming, including storytimes, for the library. She also selects the children and teen books, movies, and music. As a resident of Garden City most of her life, Kim brings enthusiasm and love of community to her new role.
Everett Wiggins, Adult Librarian
Everett has worked at public, academic, and special libraries in Michigan, Indiana, New York, Washington DC, and Scotland. His MLIS is from University of Michigan, with a Masters in American literature from Indiana State University. He lives in Detroit with his wife and their dogs, and enjoys writing and making books, fish tacos, and haunting used record shops.
Our Library Aides
Rebekah Norgren, Library Aide
Rebekah joined the library in 2018 as a library aide. Rebekah is the creative juice behind our adult crafts and is our MEL inter-loan coordinator. Rebekah works with Emily in the adult department.
Claudine Wooley, Library Aide
Claudine joined the library in 2013 as a page and was promoted to clerk, then eventually library aide. Claudine works in the kid/teen department and assists Kim with the programming and crafts. Claudine also creates the graphic art for the library, website and social media sites for marketing the library’s events.
Sarah Flathers, Library Aide
Sarah began library life as a clerk and has been promoted to a youth library aide!
Moriah Piehl, Library Aide
Moriah is a lifelong advocate for imagination and passion in all ages, she is thrilled to work with the Adult programs while also occasionally making a guest appearance in youth events as well. She is a former Oxford scholar currently studying to restore and preserve the art and literature of the world.
