We’ve changed our name! The Garden City Library Building Fund is now the “Future Library Fund”. We are a non-profit organization raising money to construct a new building to house the Garden City Public Library, including all the necessary furniture and equipment needed for a modern library. Whether your donation is $5 or $500, you will help ensure the community has a modern space for new moms to connect at baby story-times; for seniors to attend events and make new friends during a time filled with difficult life transitions; where teens can meet up after school in the library’s teen space; and where readers can discuss current events.
Let’s do this together!
Why the name change? We started this non-profit organization in 2013 under the name “Garden City Library Building Fund, Inc.”, which most people referred to by the shorter name “Library Building Fund”. Then, in 2019, the residents approved a millage to fund the construction of a new building. The millage is kept separate from the library’s operating funds in a capital projects fund called the Library Building Fund. The similarity in names has caused confusion between the non-profit and the Library Fund. So, the non-profit has opted to rebrand itself as the “Future Library Fund.” The goal remains the same: to help raise additional funds for the construction of a new library building.
We now have conceptual designs of the future Garden City Public Library!

Future Library Fund: Building With Your Support!
In 2013, the Garden City Library Board approved the creation of a non-profit public charity called the GARDEN CITY LIBRARY FUTURE LIBRARY FUND, INC., now called the FUTURE LIBRARY FUND. The purpose of the Future Library Fund is to solicit donations for a future library building in Garden City.
The Future Library Fund is a separate and distinct body from the Library Board. Donations for a new Library are not used for any other purposes. Property purchased with Future Library Fund money is under the exclusive control of the Garden City Library Board.
Give today! No donation is too small or too large. Make your donation by cash or check (made payable to “Garden City Library Future Library Fund”) at the Library during normal business hours or by mail at:

The Need
Users of the Garden City Public Library know we need more space.
- We have no study rooms.
- We have no program rooms. (Programs are held in the staff offices.)
- We have only two study tables.
- Our shelves are crowded.
- There are not enough electric outlets.
That is why we are asking for donations. We need your support. Every dime helps, but it will take a lot of dimes to build a new Library. So come back to this page to find out about our fund-raising events.
